Description
The Beechwood Inn is an 1853 mansion located on Cape Cods Route 6A Historic District. It features six guest rooms and is filled with beautiful antiques. The Beechwood Inn is named for two magnificent two hundred-year-old Beech trees that stand guard over the Inn. There is a wraparound porch that covers three sides of the mansion, overlooking acres of lawn, gardens and woods. There are many ghost stories that are told at the Beechwood Inn or about the old Inn. The most famous is the story of a female apparition who was seen floating across the street and right into the Beechwood Inn. The unfortunate lady was fleeing a fire that destroyed her home. This happened in the early 1970's and was seen by the local firemen. Innkeepers tell about the ghost of an old lady in a long white gown. They have seen her and heard her wish them a good morning. She is blamed for moving tools and other objects, loosening light bulbs and closing deadbolt locks on rooms that are empty. There are also sightings of the ghost of a young woman who walks the hallways of the Beechwood Inn. Guests report strange footsteps and seeing moving objects out of the corner of their eyes. The Inns Lilac Room and the Rose Room are reported to be the most haunted.
