Description
Herring gulls are noisy birds with a variety of honking, bugling calls in the classic gull voice. The pitch is typically low and different calls often include elongated notes.
These gulls are opportunistic feeders willing and eager to try any new food source. They will often pick at refuse and regularly follow fishing boats to feed on offal or handouts. When feeding near humans in parks and picnic areas, they can become aggressive and will form large flocks to take advantage of a food source.
